Director & Producer

Amber Fares (she/her) is an award-winning filmmaker whose work blends humor, emotional intimacy, and political insight.

Her latest film as director and producer, Coexistence, My Ass! (Sundance 2025, Special Jury Award, Academy Award–shortlisted), follows activist-comedian Noam Shuster Eliassi as she uses satire to confront escalating regional tensions. Amber’s earlier directing work includes  Cannes Lion Grand Prix winner We Are Ayenda (Whatsapp 2021) and Speed Sisters (Netflix 2015), films that established her signature voice—finding resilience, humor, and resistance in communities the world tends to overlook.

Amber is also a sought-after collaborator, having served as producer and cinematographer on the Academy Award-nominated short The Devil Is Busy (HBO 2026), co-producer and cinematographer on The Judge (TIFF 2017, Peabody Award), and cinematographer on Life After (Sundance 2025, Special Jury Award).

A Sundance Momentum Fellow, Chicken & Egg Awardee, and Pillars Artist Fellow, her work has screened at Sundance, TIFF, IDFA, Hot Docs, CPH:DOX, and Full Frame. She is based between New York and Canada.
