Sushmit Ghosh (he/him) is an Academy Award-nominated, Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer, and co-founder of Black Ticket Films, a production company invested in the power of storytelling. An IDA “Courage Under Fire” honoree, Sushmit's films are recognised for their rigor of immersive, emotionally powerful storytelling.

Sushmit’s feature documentary, Writing With Fire (2021), co-directed with Rintu Thomas, became India's first feature documentary to be nominated for an Oscar. Writing With Fire has played at over 200 festivals, won 40 awards, and earned Grierson, IDA, PGA, Cinema Eye Honors nominations. Sushmit's work has been supported by the Sundance Institute, Tribeca, Chicken & Egg Films, Doc Society, Finnish Film Foundation and profiled in major broadsheets including TIME, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Guardian, along with being exhibited at global forums such as the United Nations and The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.

In 2023, Sushmit and Rintu co-founded the Himalayan Story Lab, an incubation space dedicated for emerging filmmakers from the Himalayan region. Sushmit holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi. His earlier award-winning shorts include Bullets and Butterflies (2007), Dilli (2010), and Timbaktu (2012). Sushmit is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
