Shayla Harris (she/her) has directed and produced several award-winning documentaries for Dateline NBC, Netflix, The New York Times, and PBS, including Who Killed Malcolm X? (2020), an Emmy-nominated series that led to the exoneration of the two men wrongfully convicted of Malcolm X’s murder. She was recently the showrunner and executive producer of Hollywood Black (2024), an Independent Spirit Award-winning doc series for MGM+. Shayla has been honored as a 2024-2025 Fulbright Scholar and has received production support from the IDA.
