
Deirdre Fishel (she/her) is a director whose work has premiered at Tribeca, SXSW, DOC NYC, and Full Frame and broadcast in 35 countries worldwide. Recent feature documentary credits include Facing the Wind (2024), about two women whose lives are irrevocably changed by their husbands’ diagnosis with dementia, which aired on PBS in June 2026; Women in Blue (2020), which was broadcast on PBS’ Independent Lens; and Care (2016), which was funded by Macarthur and the Ford Foundation and aired on America Reframed. Earlier credits include the groundbreaking documentary Still Doing It: The Intimate Lives of Women Over 65; Suicide on Campus, a web documentary produced in conjunction with The New York Times Magazine; and Risk, a dramatic feature that premiered at Sundance. Deirdre is a Professor and the Director of the BFA in Film at the City College of New York.
